A Russian merchant ship with three North Koreans aboard is heading to Jinhae port on the south coast. The Russian ship rescued the North Koreans from a drifting fishing boat in waters about 50 kilometers off the North Korean port of Chongjin. The office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said the North Korean fishing boat was drifting after developing a mechanical failure. The Russian ship is expected to arrive at the southern port Saturday.
