The nation’s peace index ranking has climbed five notches to 37th place in the world.

The Seoul-based World Peace Forum said the nation finished with a score of 73-point-six points.

The peace index is measured in terms of a country’s politics, military, diplomacy, society and economy.

Sweden took the top place with 90-point-four points. Others included in the top ten were Switzerland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Australia, Austria, Norway, Germany, Canada and New Zealand.

Pakistan ranked the lowest with 44-point-nine points.

The United States ranked 47th and China 65th. North Korea was not included in the rankings due to insufficient data.

The World Peace Forum was established in 2000, with former Science and Technology Minister Kim Jin-hyun as chair. The organization publishes the peace index annually.
