NK to Halt S.Korean Visits to Gaeseong Temporarily

North Korea is temporarily halting South Korean visits to the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in North Korea for about a month starting December 13th.

The North is reportedly too busy with year-end settling of accounts and preparations for the new year to accommodate South Korean visitors.

The North placed a similar one-month halt on visits to Gaeseong by South Koreans at the end of last year.

North Korea said earlier this month that it will limit, and even possibly ban, cross-border passage by South Koreans starting December first.

The North’s official KCNA news agency announced the measure, accusing South Korea of breaking inter-Korean agreements.

It’s not known whether the cross-border travel ban will also apply to Gaeseong visitors.
