North Korea has notified South Korea of its decision to halt cross-border train operations and tour programs to the North Korean city of Gaeseong.
It also told South Korea to decrease the number of South Korean staffers of the management committee for the Gaeseong Industrial Complex.
Unification Ministry spokesman Kim Ho-nyoun said North Korea announced the decision in a notice sent to Seoul on Monday.
The North will halt cross-border railway services linking its city of Bongdong and the South’s Munsan and will close down the inter-Korean economic cooperation office in Gaeseong.
North Korea demanded the Gaeseong Industrial Complex management committee withdraw half of its South Korean staffers before the end of the month.
It also told South Korean companies operating in the inter-Korean joint venture to reduce their staff by half.
The North will also strictly limit or ban the cross-border passage of South Korean people participating in inter-Korean economic cooperation and exchange projects.
