Publishers of school textbooks on Korea& 039 s modern history sent a document to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on Friday night, promising to revise their controversial descriptions of some historical events.

A ministry official said that five of six publishers have expressed their willingness to accept the ministry& 039 s request for revisions.

The official added that while the ministry has yet to discuss the revisions with the authors, it is up to the publishers and the authors to resolve copyright issues.

The ministry plans to announce its final position early next month over the proposed revision of history textbooks.
