Pullout from Gaeseong Industrial Complex Continues

The withdrawal of South Koreans from joint inter-Korean industrial facilities in North Korea continued Saturday, ahead of the communist country's planned cutoff of cross-border passage.

Staff workers of the Gaeseong Industrial District Management Committee and South Korean companies at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex crossed the military demarcation line to return to the South.

However, it is hard to predict exactly how many people will be pulled out from the site as some of the companies are still discussing with North Korean officials how many of their workers will remain there.

A total of 1,131 South Koreans withdrew from Gaeseong on Friday, and 22 from the Mount Geumgang resort area.

Meanwhile, North Korea has informed the South that 1,600 to 1,800 South Koreans will be able to stay at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex.
