Korean Air said Tuesday it is prepared to carry 90,000 of the 210,000 passengers expected to attend the World Cup finals from May 31st thru June 30th. The air carrier, a sponsor of the Korea World Cup Organizing Committee, said it plans to handle 60,000 passengers through regular flights and a further 30,000 on charter flights. The airline said it has set aside three B747-400s, each with a seating capacity of 400 passengers, to help with the extra traffic. The company also plans to expand the number of planes on various routes. As part of its World Cup promotion, the air carrier will also select 1,600 participants through an Internet competition to receive return tickets to Europe and North America.
