South Korea has spent trillions of won on cross-border projects through the inter-Korean cooperation fund since its creation in 1991.

The Unification Ministry said Monday that a total of nine-point-three trillion won has been secured for the fund over the course of last 17 years and eight-point-two trillion won was spent from 1991 to late October this year.

Of the money, four-point-three trillion won went to an international project to build light-water reactors for North Korea and three-point-eight trillion won was spent on inter-Korean exchanges.

Some 47 percent of the fund was contributed by the government.
