The winter session of the Hi Seoul Festival 2008 kicked off for a month Friday.

The festival features various holiday lighting ceremonies across the capital, mainly around the areas of Cheonggye Stream and Seoul Plaza.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government said it used eco-friendly LED lighting this year in consideration of the nation’s economic woes.

The festival is held four times a year, with a different theme for each season.
