Cardinal Nicholas Cheong Jin-suk of the Seoul Metropolitan Archdiocese has urged people to seek freedom from greed, saying that many people are unfortunate as they are consumed with greed and worldly desires.

In his New Year message on Tuesday, Cheong said that he hopes people will find a desirable way of life, hope and consolation from God’s words, citing a biblical expression that people with clean hands, a pure heart and those who do not fall for falsehood will ascend into the hill of the Lord.

He also said he hoped that people will have more warm hearts, generosity and humility.
