The Most Venerable Jigwan, the top administrator of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, said that a "door of fortune" will be opened next year for Korea.

In the New Year's statement released Wednesday, the top monk said that "those who pursue the shadow of greed will eventually fall into the pitfall of pain."

He noted that the New Year will bring fortune to intellectuals who study and religious people who pray.
