The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said Wednesday that the government will provide the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) with $30,000 dollars in aid to help victims of the recent eruption of a volcano in the Congo. A ministry official said Congo's Mount Nyiragongo erupted Jan. 17, destroying a huge section of the country's eastern side. He added that some 200 people had been killed and 350,000 had been evacuated from the area.
