S.Korean Officials Enter Pyongyang

A South Korean delegation has entered Pyongyang to discuss the disposal of unused fuel rods from the North’s Yongbyon nuclear reactor.

The six-member delegation, led by the South’s deputy chief nuclear envoy Hwang Joon-kook, will look into the technical details of some 14-thousand unused fuel rods produced by North Korea.

The detailed schedule of the delegation has yet to be confirmed, although Hwang is set to meet with the North’s nuclear envoy Ri Gun.

The government will use the results of the visit during its discussions with the members of the six-way nuclear talks on how best to dispose of the rods.

This is the first visit for Seoul government officials to Pyongyang since the conservative South Korean government took office last year.
