Citizens of North Korea now have access to mobile phone services.

The North’s first cell phone provider was launched in Pyongyang late last year, but the phones themselves were sold only to senior officials of North Korea’s Workers’ Party and other government officials.

Radio Free Asia quoted a Chinese who frequents North Korea as saying that ordinary North Korean people now have access to mobile phone services if they pay 350 U.S. dollars in related fees.

The U.S. government-sponsored broadcaster added that North Korean authorities have recently expanded mobile phone service areas to military compounds and provincial areas.
