Written: 2002-02-01 00:00:00Updated: 0000-00-00 00:00:00

A group of legislators are calling for the release of Robert Kim. The Korean-American is serving a nine-year sentence in a U.S. jail for spying for his fatherland. In a resolution submitted to the National Assembly, 46 lawmakers demanded President Kim Dae-jung raise the issue at his upcoming talks with U.S. President George W. Bush. Robert Kim was an employee of the U.S. Office of Naval Intelligence. He was arrested in 19-96 for passing classified information to a South Korean army officer at the Korean Embassy in Washington D.C. But he's denying the charges.
