Gov’t to Implement New Class-Taking System at Schools

The government will implement a new system in which middle and high school students will move from one classroom to another to take their courses.

Currently, at middle and high schools in Korea, students stay in one classroom while the teachers move to different classrooms.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology said that starting in the second semester, some middle and high schools will incorporate the system to increase freedom of education and expand classes taught for students at different ability levels.

The ministry said that only some schools will be selected to run under the new system since it is impossible for all schools to incorporate the new system immediately.

According to the new system, classrooms will be designated for each course and the students themselves will move to the classrooms to take the courses of their choice.
