North Korea says its leader, Kim Jong-il, attended a performance of a state-run choir to mark the New Year.

The North's official KCNA news agency said Kim expressed satisfaction over the choir's performance.

The report said the North Korean leader was accompanied by top party, government and military officials.

But the report did not indicate when and where the performance took place.
