Name of Proposed History Museum Changed

The government has changed the name for a proposed modern history museum to the Center for the Republic of Korea.

In August last year, the government announced the plan to build a modern history museum in the center of Seoul to mark the country's 60th anniversary.

The Culture, Sports and Tourism Ministry said Sunday that the change was made under the judgment that Korea's great achievements and economic development should be seen as a continuation into the future, not as past moments that belong to a museum.

Under the decision, the ministry plans to build a futuristic space in the proposed center using IT technology.

The center will be built on the site of the ministry.
