A North Korean broadcast monitored here reported Tuesday that a ceremony to mark the donation of frozen beef from the German government was held in the North Korean port of Nampo Monday. The Korean Central Broadcasting Station said the delivery was witnessed by German Ambassador to Pyongyang Doris Hertramf and Ri Yong-sok, vice chairman of the North's flood prevention committee. The broadcaster did not detail the exact volume of the beef delivered but mentioned that the aid was comprised of "several thousands of tons."
The station said the German aid has given a boost to the people, who have been trying to cope with difficulties resulting from years of natural disasters.
