Hyundai Asan Pledges to Restart Geumgang Tours

Hyundai Asan has announced it will do its utmost to resume its tour programs to North Korea’s Mount Geumgang by April.

The tours were launched in November 1998 but halted last July after a South Korean tourist was shot and killed at the resort by a North Korean soldier.

With the tour programs in limbo, the company has been engulfed in managerial difficulties.

At a staffers’ workshop marking the tenth anniversary of the company’s establishment Wednesday, Hyundai Asan pledged to resume the tour programs by all means.

Nearly two million South Korean people visited Geumgang through Hyundai Asan’s programs before the suspension.
