Gaesong Company Resumes Biz After Labor Row

One manufacturer in North Korea's Gaesong Industrial Complex has resumed operation after it closed seven months ago due to labor conflict.

A support foundation of the joint inter-Korean complex said the doll manufacturer has recently resumed operations.

A complex source says the company asked North Korean authorities to replace the labor representative, and that talks have been smoothly concluded on maintaining the representative.

The company employs 260 North Korean workers and asked for the replacement following a quarrel over provision of disposable supplies between a South Korean worker and a North Korean boss in June last year. Its request to fire the labor representative was rejected and it temporarily shut down business.
