The U.S. daily Washington Post says the Obama administration now will have to determine whether and how it can revive the broken process aimed at ending North Korea's nuclear program.

In an editorial entitled “A Missile for Mr. Obama,” the newspaper said Monday that the new U.S. government will have to decide how to respond to North Korean missile tests and war threats.

The editorial said U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton “took a step in the right direction” by excluding North Korea from her East Asian trip agenda. Clinton is scheduled to make stops in South Korea, Japan, China and Indonesia during her first trip abroad since taking over the post last month.

The editorial called former U.S. nuclear envoy Christopher Hill’s efforts in the disarmament process a “failure” and raised question with the U.S. appointing him as the next ambassador to Iraq, citing his lack of Arabic or Middle East experience.
