UN Command, NK to Hold More Talks This Week

The United Nations Command and the North Korean military will hold a string of talks this week. This follows their general level meeting Monday for the first time in six years.

On Monday, the two sides agreed to hold more high level meetings this week.

Colonel-level talks are expected to be held Wednesday at the inter-Korean truce village of Panmunjeom, followed by general-level discussions Friday. Talks will likely focus on easing escalating military tension on the Korean Peninsula.

In the Monday talks, North Korea demanded South Korea and the U.S. drop their planned joint drill scheduled from March ninth. The U.N. Command stressed that Key Resolve was an annual defense exercise.
