N. Korea Holds Parliamentary Elections

North Korea is holding its 12th parliamentary elections.

North Korean media said Saturday that preparations for the elections are complete.

The communist state is expected to announce its list of new lawmakers Monday and convene a full session of the Supreme People’s Assembly next month to reaffirm leader Kim Jong-il chairman of the National Defense Commission.

Attention is drawn to if Kim’s third son Jong-un will be among the newly elected lawmakers. Jong-un is widely rumored to be his father's successor.

North Korea’s parliamentary elections simply has one candidate nominated to run in each district.
