North Korea says it will do whatever it takes to protect its sovereign rights, referring to the joint South Korea-U.S. Key Resolve military exercise currently under way.

In an interview with the North's Korean Central News Agency, the North's Foreign Ministry said Wednesday there's no guarantee that South Korea and the U.S. will not try to target North Korea during their 12-day-long joint exercises.

A ministry spokesman blasted the new U.S. administration for allegedly interfering in the North's domestic affairs.
