Hyundai Asan says it expects to make over 40-thousand reservations for Mount Geumgang tours.

According to the company on Saturday, a total of 26-thousand people have made reservations since February 13 when the company started its presale of the tour.

The number is expected to reach 30-thousand next week as up to an average of one-thousand people are expected to make reservations each day, with the number hitting the 40-thousand mark by April.

The company will give discounts of up to 50 percent on the tours if customers agree to depart for the resort within one month of the tour’s resumption, although no relevant timetable for the resumption has been released.

The Mount Geumgang tours were suspended in July last year after a South Korean tourist was shot to death by a North Korean soldier at the North's east coast resort.
