Korean Opera Singers Shine at Int’l Competition

South Korean opera singers have taken the top honors at the “Maria Callas” Grand Prix held in Athens, Greece, from March eighth to the 15th.

Tenor Lee Jae-sig and soprano Lee Yun-jeong claimed the top awards, while baritone Lee Dong-hwan and soprano Yoon Jung-nan each took third place in their respective categories.

Korean baritones took the four top spots in the 2007 competition. The Grand Prix has been held for over 30 years in memory of world-renowned soprano Maria Callas.
