Seoul to Host E-Sports Festival in July

Seoul City will play host to international computer games championships in July.

The international e-sports festival named "E-Stars Seoul 2009" will be held from July 24th to 26th at the Seoul Trade Exhibition Center (SETEC), drawing professional video gamers from around the world.

The festival will feature three events: the Starcraft online gaming competition, a competition for domestically produced games, and an intercontinental competition utilizing games produced around the world.

In a Tuesday meeting with South Korean professional gamers who will compete in the event, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon signed a pact to help promote the nation's gaming industry.

The professional gamers have promised to donate a portion of their prize money to the government’s job creation efforts.
