NK Threatens to Boycott Six-Party Nuke Talks

North Korea has hinted that it will not participate in the six-way nuclear talks if U.N. sanctions are sought for its planned rocket launch.

The North’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement Wednesday that efforts to negate the North’s right for peaceful space studies infringe upon the North’s sovereignty.

The ministry said hostile actions taken in the name of the U.N. Security Council would be a breach of the September 19th, 2005 six-party accord on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

The ministry added that if the accord is annulled, there would be no justification for a resumption to the six-way talks, stressing that countries negating the spirit of the agreement, including Japan, would be fully responsible for the collapse of the multilateral negotiations.
