KCC Promotes New Web ID System

The Korea Communications Commission has unveiled plans to enhance and promote the Internet Personal Identification Number (IPIN) system.

The commission said Wednesday that it plans to make it mandatory by 2015 for all Internet users to use the identification system as part of efforts to prevent users from having to use their government-issued identification numbers for cyber matters.

Under the system, Internet users will be required to identify themselves with personalized identification numbers when using various online services.
