Japanese dailies reported Wednesday Japan's Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and a cousin of Emperor Akihito will attend the opening ceremony of the World Cup finals in Seoul. The newspapers said the South Korean and Japanese governments recently completed discussions to determine which Japanese VIPs would attend the ceremony. Prince Takamado, a cousin of the Japanese Emperor who serves as honorary president of the Japan Football Association (JFA), will be in attendance. He attended the Japanese team's first round matches in France at the World Cup four years ago. Ahead of the World Cup finals, set to open May 31st, Koizumi is scheduled to make a one-day visit to South Korea on March 21st. South Korean President Kim Dae-jung is expected to attend the championship final set for Yokohama on June 30th.
