'Korea’s Bike Path Expansion to Benefit Nation'

The Japanese daily Tokyo Shimbun has featured the Korean government’s plan to build a bicycle path along the nation’s four major rivers.

The daily introduced the plan in detail, saying the 4,411-kilometer path will benefit all facets of the country, including the environment and economy.

A 207-kilometer path will be established in Seoul by 2012 to allow people to commute to work by bicycle.

In Korea, 16.6 percent of the people use bicycles, much lower than Japan’s 67.8 percent.
