Inter-Korean talks scheduled for Tuesday in the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in North Korea are being delayed as the two sides failed to agree on the location of the meeting, the agenda to be covered and other issues.
Liaison officers of the two sides met four times on Tuesday but failed to narrow differences on the venue.
The South insisted the meeting be held at the office of the Gaeseong Industrial District Management Committee of the South, while the North is demanding it be convened at the office of its Central Guidance Bureau for Special Zone Development.
A Unification Ministry official in Seoul said consultations were under way between senior delegates of the two sides to find a breakthrough.
The official said Seoul also conveyed its position on other issues, such as the swift release of a South Korean worker detained by the North in the industrial park and Pyongyang’s efforts to improve the systems for the stable development of the joint industrial complex.
