Officials said Saturday some of international flight services to and from this southern island, that were scrapped because of a lack of demand, are likely to be resumed in the coming months thanks to the World Cup boom. Asiana Airlines and Korean Air are both expected to add China and Japan flights this month or next to attract passengers planning to attend the World Cup finals, co-hosted by South Korea and Japan, from May 31st to June 30th. Asiana plans to begin flying the Jeju-Shanghai route once a week, which was stopped last Oct. 26, from April 26, while increasing Jeju-Fukuoka flights to five times a week from the end of this month. Korean Air will fly a new, bigger aircraft from April 2 on Jeju-Nagoya services to carry more passengers and will also begin a direct flight between Jeju and Tokyo starting April 19th.
