NK to Try Detained U.S. Journalists

North Korea decided Friday to put two detained American journalists on trial.

The two women, Euna Lee and Laura Ling of San Francisco-based Current TV, have been detained by the North for more than a month.

The North’s state-run Korean Central News Agency said a North Korean agency has finished its questioning of the detainees and has decided to try them based on their confirmed charges, of which no details were given.

The KCNA also reported the interim results of an investigation, saying that the North was preparing to put them on trial for illegally entering the North and for, what it claims, were “hostile acts.”

The reporters were detained in North Korea on March 17th near the Chinese-North Korean border while filming a documentary on North Korean escapees.
