Travel Restriction Mulled on NK Border City

South Koreans could soon face a restriction in visiting the inter-Korean industrial complex in Gaesong if North Korea unilaterally indicts a South Korean worker who has been detained in the North for about a month.

A South Korean government source said Sunday that if the North wants to take punitive action on the worker other than penalty, warning and expulsion, it must first consult the South in accordance with inter-Korean agreements.

The source warned that a unilateral indictment will nullify inter-Korean agreements on cross-border trips and stays.

Seoul is also known to be considering proposing this week more talks with Pyongyang. The South Korean government will first collect opinions from related ministries, organizations and companies operating in the industrial park on the North's requests on operations there.
