S. Korean Civic Groups to Resume NK Visits

South Korean civic groups, who had been restricted from visiting the North following Pyongyang’s April fifth rocket launch, will resume their visits to North Korea this week.

An official at Movement for One Corea said Monday it received an invitation from the North a week ago. The group said it plans to visit the North soon to tour around a number of pig farms and to discuss pork preservation.

Forest for Peace, another civic group, said 20 of its officials will visit Pyongyang on May sixth to plant trees on three hectares of land as a way of marking the tenth anniversary of the organization’s founding.

The Korean Sharing Movement said a group of experts will visit the communist state on Wednesday to promote greenhouse projects, while a medical group will travel to the North in early May to support health and welfare services.
