North Korea has renewed its warning that South Korea's participation in the Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) will lead to military clashes and a full-scale war.

The Rodong Sinmun, the North Korean Workers' Party newspaper, on Monday blasted South Korean President Lee Myung-bak’s recent remarks that Seoul’s plan to join the PSI remains unchanged.

The paper said that Lee’s remarks are effectively a declaration of war and military confrontation.

The paper also warned against Seoul backing U.N. sanctions against Pyongyang's April fifth rocket launch, calling the move a challenge to the North’s right of self-defense.
