NK Reiterates Satellite Claim

North Korea has reiterated its claim that it successfully sent a satellite into orbit one month ago.

The North’s Korean Committee of Space Technology claimed in a statement Thursday that various data transmitted from the “Gwangmyongsong-Two” satellite shows that the satellite is operating smoothly.

The North said the satellite is transmitting songs praising North Korea's late founder, Kim Il-sung, and current leader Kim Jong-il at a frequency of 470 megahertz.

Meanwhile, the International Telecommunication Union said it has not picked up any transmissions from the satellite the North claims to have in orbit.
