The government is lamenting North Korea’s declaration to nullify all contracts regarding the inter-Korean joint venture at Gaeseong in the North.

Unification Ministry spokesman Kim Ho-nyoun said Seoul will not accept the North’s unilateral nullification of the contracts, calling it irresponsible. He also said the issues regarding the Gaeseong Industrial Complex should be resolved through dialogue and consensus.

Kim urged Pyongyang to withdraw its threat and come to Seoul’s proposed working-level meeting on Monday to discuss the issues.

The spokesman also said the North’s threat to unilaterally revise the contracts could affect the stability and future direction of the complex.
