U.S. to donate US$40,000 to Gwangju Biennale

The U.S. embassy here said Monday U.S. Ambassador to Seoul Thomas C. Hubbard will announce a grant of US$40,000 to the Gwangju Biennale during his Tuesday visit to Gwangju on behalf of the United States. A press release issued by the embassy said the award will help support the participation of U.S. artists in the Gwangju Biennale, which opens on March 29th. The grant is provided by The Fund for U.S. Artists at International Festivals and Exhibitions, a public-private partnership of the National Endowment for the Arts, the U.S. Department of State, The Pew Charitable Trusts, and the Rockefeller Foundation, with additional support from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
