N.Korea Launches Three Short-range Missiles

North Korea has test-fired three short-range missiles Monday, after its second nuclear test earlier in the day.

Sources said Pyongyang fired a 130-kilometer range missile from its coastal base Musudan-ri in North Hamgyeong Province at 12:08 p.m. Then, at around five p.m., it fired two additional short-range missiles, which flew similar distances as the first one in the East Sea.

An intelligence source said analysis on the missiles found they were ground-to-air missiles.

Military officials said Pyongyang fired the short-range missiles from the coastal base not far from the nuclear test site in Punggye-ri to hinder U.S. and Japanese scout planes.

The possibility of North Korea's missile testing had been foreseen, as Pyongyang issued a warning restricting ships from sailing in a 130-kilometer coastal range off of Kimchaek, North Hamgyeong Province until May 30.
