Kyodo: NK Banning Ships from Coastal Waters

Kyodo News says North Korea has banned vessels from its territorial waters along its northwestern coast.
The Japanese broadcaster quoted the Japan Coast Guard as saying Monday that a patrol ship received a warning from the North on Monday issued for vessels navigating waters about 100 kilometers northwest of Pyongyang.
According to Kyodo, the warning is in effect between nine a.m. and five p.m., Monday through Wednesday.
Japan has yet to confirm the reason for such a warning, but observers believe the move could be related to the North’s plans to test a series of short-range missiles.
