The Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea will seek to have eight domestic cultural and natural sites added to UNESCO's tentative World Heritage List.

The administration on Tuesday said it will apply for the sites' registration on the tentative list after consulting experts on the eight sites.

The locations include historical sites in Gongju and Buyeo and one natural site --- the Upo Wetland in Changnyeong County in South Gyeongsang Province.

In order to be included on the World Heritage List, sites must first be admitted to the temporary list. A country cannot nominate a property unless it has been on the tentative list for a minimum of one year.
