North Korea has confirmed the health and safety of a South Korean it detained over two months ago.

The North made the assurance during a round of inter-Korean working-level talks held in the North Korean border city of Gaeseong on Thursday.

During the talks to discuss operations at the inter-Korean Gaeseong Industrial Complex, South Korea’s chief delegate Kim Young-tak made clear to the North that the detainee issue is Seoul’s top priority.

The Hyundai Asan worker was detained by the North for allegedly denouncing the Pyongyang regime.

North Korea neglected to respond when Seoul delegates inquired as to the location of the South Korean.

Kim said the South proposed another meeting on June 19th, to which the North agreed. He said that although the two Koreas have taken the first step to resolving a number of contentious issues, there is still a long way to go.
