North Korea says it will begin uranium enrichment and produce weapons with the plutonium it extracts.

The North made the announcement in a statement issued by its Foreign Ministry to blast U.N. Security Council Resolution 1874, which bans Pyongyang from conducting further nuclear or ballistic missile tests.

The North said it will take those measures as an all-out confrontation with the U.S. has begun, adding it began uranium enrichment for nuclear energy production.

The statement said Pyongyang will weaponize all the plutonium it produces and has reprocessed a third of its spent fuel rods.

Pyongyang threatened military action if Washington introduces containment policies against it.
