Puchon Film Festival to Open July 16

The 13th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan) will open on July 16th.

Under the theme "Love, Fantasy, Adventure," the annual event will run through July 26th in the city of Bucheon (spelled Puchon in the past) west of Seoul.

The festival, which focuses on Asian horror, thriller, mystery and fantasy, will feature 202 films from 41 countries. A total of 38 films will premiere at this year’s PiFan.

The festival will open with "M.W.," Japanese auteur Hitoshi Iwamoto's live-action adaptation of Osamu Tezuka's dark revenge manga, and will close with "Merantau," considered the first Indonesian martial arts film, by Gareth Huw Evans.
