The two Koreas will meet in Gaeseong on Friday for a second round of working-level talks.
The South’s delegation, comprised of a dozen officials, arrived in the North around 8:45 a.m.
The Unification Ministry said the North notified the South that five Pyongyang officials will be representing the communist state at the working-level discussions.
Friday marks the third time for the two Koreas to meet at the border city of Gaeseong following a brief meeting in April and the first round of working-level talks earlier this month.
The South’s delegation is expected to focus on seeking the release of a South Korean worker who has been detained at the Gaeseong complex for nearly 80 days for allegedly denouncing the North Korean regime.
South Korean officials are also expected to reiterate Seoul’s demands that the North provide a mechanism that will guarantee the safety of South Korean workers at the complex.
The North, meanwhile, is expected to reiterate its demands that South Korean firms in the industrial park pay North Korean workers a monthly salary of 300 U.S. dollars and that Seoul pay 500 million dollars in land-use fees for Gaeseong sites.
