NK Ship Tailed by US a 'Repeat Violator'

A North Korean ship currently sailing toward Myanmar has reportedly been involved in numerous allegations of carrying illicit weapons.

Online U.S. media source CNSNews.com said Monday that the North’s Kang Nam-One cargo ship anchored at a port near Rangoon, Myanmar, in May 2007, prompting suspicions about a possible transfer of illegal weapons between the two regimes.

At the time, the Myanmar government issued a statement saying the North Korean ship had anchored at Rangoon for repair and that no suspicious cargo was found on the ship.

The North Korean vessel, which reportedly belongs to the North’s Geumreung Trading Company, is a two-thousand-ton cargo ship with a history of being detained at least three times in China and Hong Kong for regulation violations.

A U.S. Navy destroyer has been tailing the North Korean ship since last Wednesday.
