Gov't to Restructure Private Universities

The government will review ailing private colleges and universities as part of efforts to restructure private educational institutions.

In the fifth meeting of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology's collegiate advancement committee Wednesday, it decided on a list of standards to determine an ailing school.

The committee will review some 30 private universities' state of management according to the set standards from July to November this year.

The ministry said after the review, insolvent schools that cannot survive on its own will have to merge with other schools or be dissolved.

However, as forceful reform measures can cause social confusion, the government will encourage private schools to take voluntary restructuring measures ahead of the review.
